*Fits ALL 2009 Bows.
-
Bowtech Captain, Admiral, and
Sentinel require the
2009 Mounting Block for
proper mounting. If you
have purchased the
Ultra-Rest in 2009 for
one of the bows listed
above, please email archery@qadinc.com
P.S.E.
2008 and 2009 PSE bows
with a brace height SHORTER than 7
inches require
an additional Spacer
Block and Longer Screw
for proper Ultra-Rest
Pro Series installation
(the Hunter model
installs just fine). We
will ship mentioned
parts FREE of charge,
please e-mail archery@qadinc.com and
include your mailing
address.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My Ultra-Rest doesn't
seem to drop fast
enough...is there a spring
tension adjustment I can
make?
A: There are no
external spring adjustments
for the Ultra-Rest...reason
being, it's not necessary.
The Ultra-Rest Pro Series,
and Hunter, internal torsion
springs are factory set to
drop away fast enough to
handle bows shooting in
excess of 350 fps. It has
been recorded that a QAD
customer was able to tune
his Ultra-Rest HD and High
Country bow, 80lbs draw
weight, 400fps, without
experiencing any fletching
contact. The key is Timing
Cord location, and proper
arrow nocking point
height…see below for bow
type specifics.

Q: Does the Timing Cord
have to be attached to the
bows downward buss cable in
order for the Ultra-Rest to
drop away properly?
A: Yes! The Timing
Cord must be attached to the
bows downward buss cable.
For adjustability purposes,
we recommend using the Cable
Clamp. (see above Ultra-Rest
installation instructions) The Ultra-Rest is NOT
inertia activated.
If the Timing Cord is not
attached, the arrow
fletching will make contact
with the launcher and
activate the Safety Break
Away feature. The launcher
will appear to drop away,
but upon closer inspection
you will notice fletching
contact on the launcher.

Q: My LD/HD is
“sticking” or “popping” when I
draw back my bow from the Drop
Away position?
A: The
Ultra-Rest LD/HD are not
designed to draw from the
bowshelf...here's why...when the
Launcher drops away, an internal
brake wedges into a cam causing
the "Lock-Down" effect
eliminating any chance of
unwanted "bounce back". When
you use the Thumbwheel to rotate
the Launcher to the Capture
position you will feel a "stick"
due to the fact you are
"disengaging" the brake from the
cam. (this disengagment
process is what causes the arrow
to pop if the Launcher is drawn
form the Drop Away position)
Rotating the Thumbwheel
while nocking an arrow will
become habit after a
while...go get 'em!

Q: Which
direction should my cock (or
odd) vane be facing?
A: We
do all of our testing with
the cock vane pointing up
and it is the direction we
recommend. However, if your
Ultra-Rest is set up
properly, you can shoot with
the cock vane facing any
direction.

Q: I’m
getting fletching contact, how
do I eliminate this?
A: When properly installed and
tuned, the Ultra-Rest will drop
away every time the bow is fired
with zero fletching contact, or
return to the Capture Position
during a Slow Let Down. If you
are experiencing fletching
contact, then additional tuning
is required. Here are some
helpful tips…
Single cam designs: Mathews, Parker, Ross, Martin, etc.):
- With the launcher in the
Full Vertical Position, use a
bow square to find the nocking
point, which is set on average
at a 1/8" to 1/4" nock high.
- It is very important that the
timing cord is attached to the
bows downward buss cable. The
launcher must be 90 degrees to the bow shelf
AT full draw (The launcher can
come up an inch before full
draw, but no sooner). The rest
will not drop away properly if
it is not in the Full Upright
position AT full draw. **Extra
tension on the timing cord at
full draw is better than any
slack in the cord at full draw,
the main reason for the rest to
come up before full draw is to
compensate for a shooter that
creeps before his shot.
- A common method used to
identify fletching contact is to
lightly coat the launcher with a
spray-on foot powder. If
contact is made on the right
side of the launcher, then move
the rest in small increments to
the right until fletching
contact is eliminated. If
contact is appearing on the left
side of the launcher, move the
rest in small increments to the
left until fletching contact is
eliminated. If contact is made
on the base of the launcher then
your nocking point may be too
low.
- Swap out the Standard
launcher with the TL1
launcher*. The TL1 is a 1/8
inch higher in the valley,
which provides additional
drop away clearance. Also,
if needed, you may add the
optional Spacer Block* and
longer screw provided in the
Parts Kit which adds
additional lateral
adjustment. (Refer to above
Ultra-Rest Installation
Instructions for proper
placement)

- Swap out the Standard
launcher with the TL1
launcher*. The TL1 is a spare
launcher that comes with all
Ultra-Rests. The TL1 is a 1/8

provides additional drop away
clearance.
- With the launcher in the
Capture Position, use a bow
square to find center shot, and
then adjust the nocking point an
1/8 to 1/4 inch nock high.
- Because of the unique Tec
Riser, we had to grind down the
5/32" Allen wrench (included in
the Ultra-Rest parts kit), so it
would fit between the Tec Riser
and horizontal/windage
adjustment screw.
